Loews Downtown Chicago our Girl Getaway

I feel fortunate to travel for work (Knipp Contracting) and explore new places. However, it leaves me with little time for friends. Which is why… I am excited about this work trip! Not my usual because I am making it a girls trip too! It was later in life when I discovered the blessing of friends.. to be silly, cry or vent with. We had a wonderful time catching up and exploring Chicago, Illinois… staying at Loews Downtown Chicago.

The Loews Downtown Chicago…Located on Park drive with views of the river. As I entered the lobby and experienced the WOW factor; marble floor, exquisite seating and large screen tv are near the bar- I am impressed. I know what my dollar is worth in the hotel industry and understand the expectations. For example, I know if I pay $150 for a night it is not going to be luxury- the same way I know if I pay $600 a night and its equivalent to a room I have spent 300 before, the chance is high I will not agree to the specific room given.

Opening the door to my room, I am pleasantly surprised… the floor to ceiling windows in this room is perfect for the fantastic views of the river. The oversized chair in the corner is the ideal place to relax. Bedroom decor has a large screen tv, luxury linens, and sleek furniture design. At this point, I am excited about my girls/ work trip.

As you can see, my welcome amenity consist of Diet Coke In a Bottle, Champagne, and Truffles. Attention to detail is setting them apart from other hotels I have stayed.. fearing the obsession I have with Diet Coke in a bottle is starting to supersede me, should I be worried?

Moving into the bathroom… marble flooring and large shower.. plenty of room- perfect for trying on every outfit I packed.

Loews Downtown Chicago exceeded expectations due to location, amenities, the rate paid and attention to detail. I am looking forward to the next time when I can bring Wally… show him the fantastic views. For a detailed look at the hotel; see YouTube video.

Before we tour the city, let me introduce the very talented real estate professionals Michelle, Dora, Eny. On our first night, we make our way to the London House a rooftop bar, mingled with locals, laughed and enjoyed the views.

The next day…after our conference is completed for the day, we venture out to see more sites. Our hotel is within walking distance to the famous Bean.. it was a beautiful day to walk past the riverfront to Millennium Park;

A highlight of our weekend is the night riverboat cruise. Viewing the city lights from this perspective is an experience not to be missed. The Chicago Architecture Foundation has boat tours, check them out.

High above the Chicago we stood on the transparent platform at Willis Tower, walked around the city and enjoyed the architecture. The video shows more of the sites in Chicago.

I love traveling and feel blessed to have a job where I explore new places. However, I forget to take time for me. My time away from the routine of the week reminds me to balance work with time spent with friends. Thanks, Ladies!

Leave a comment; I want to hear about your friend trips too.
